ONTD Original: The most Iconic TV Episodes EVER, Part 1
May 08, 2021 06:39
[Spoiler (click to open)]Buffy, The Vampire Slayer - 6x07 - Once More With Feeling Iconic because: While there had been musical episodes before, no one managed to pull off a good one as Buffy did. While Joss is trash, the team managed to deliver one of the best and most iconic Buffy episodes ever and the best musical episode ever on TV.
Ellen - 4x22 - The Puppy Episode Iconic because: Ellen is trash (probably, allegedly, whatever) but her coming out episode is iconic not because Ellen came out in real life but because it had queen Laura Dern.
Dallas - 3x25 - A House Divided Iconic because: Everyone remembers this episode because it had one of the biggest mysteries ever: Who shot JR? The episode was seen by 83 million people and even congress sessions were cancelled for people to see the episode. Every cast member was filmed shooting him to keep the mystery. (spoiler alert, the shooter was Kristin Shepard (Mary Crosby), she was J.R.'s scheming sister-in-law and mistress who shot him in a fit of anger. J.R. did not press charges, as Kristin claimed she was pregnant with his child as a result of their affair.)
St. Elsewhere - 6x22 - The Last One Iconic because: In the closing moments of the episode, a boy named Tommy Westphall (Chad Allen), the son of medical director Dr. Donald Westphall, was seen peering into a snow globe. Inside the globe was a tiny mock-up of St. Eligius, the medical center that was featured in the series, revealing that everything that happened in the show only happened in the kid's mind. It started the Tommy Westphall universe, since St. Elsewhere had crossovers with other shows, it's assumed that those show's happened in the kid's mind as well, and the same happens with the crossovers of those crossovers etc.
Six Feet Under - 5x12 - Everyone’s Waiting Iconic because: The episode became iconic for having the downright best series finale a show has ever had. Even tho Sia is cancelled (you can see a pattern in this post) the music choice and the flashforwards match perfectly.
Happy Days - 5x03 - Hollywood, Part 3 Iconic because: Fonzie jumps the shark. literally. Coining the phrase forever and ever to refere when a show starts to go downhill.
Pokemon - 1x20 - Bye, Bye, Butterfree Iconic because: Ok hear me out, if you were a kid and watched Pokemon, this episode totally broke your heart and every single human remembers it. Also, weirdly enough, Ash only had Butterfree for 19 episodes. Thought it'd be more, since 24 years later we're still waiting for a reunion.
MASH - 11x16 - Goodbye, Farewell and Amen Iconic because: Probably remembered for it's tragic twist. Hawkeye has gone insane and is spending time at a hospital. Throughout the episode, he tells this story about how they were able to go out to a beach and have a great day. Just playing at the beach. They all pile up on a bus to head home. Suddenly, they realise that the enemy is nearby, so they shut off the engine, turned out all the lights and everybody got quiet. Except this woman in the back who has a chicken that won't get quiet and she ends up killing him...except it wasn't a chicken, it was her baby.
Lost - 3x23 - Through the Looking Glass Iconic because: People's minds were blown when the 3rd season finale revealed the first flash forward ever on the show and that they had to go back to the island coining the iconic phrase 'WE HAVE TO GO BACK!!!'
The Sopranos - 6x21 - Made in America Iconic because: Probably iconic for that controversial ending in which they're sitting on a restaurant and out the sudd--....
