i work for the bbc (not in drama) and i can confirm that absolutely fucking nothing gets done when you complain about toxic male behaviour. i was invited to 'sit down and have a chat with him and sort it out yourselves'.

I’m sorry, that’s awful. I had a very similar thing happen where myself and a friend were told to tell the harasser he was being inappropriate and it’s terrible how little support women get.

It's absolutely the way to sweep it under the rug. They can tell HR they did something without having a formal report on the books.

Oh absolutely. If it happens again I'm going to the employee bullying and harrassment complaint form because then it is lodged officially and they can't pretend it's not an issue (I'm also reporting it all to my union rep ♥ )

That happened to me, too, when I reported sexual harassment. The end result was my harasser assuming that it wasn't a big deal because he and I were able to "sort it out" and nothing changed. Oh, apart from him getting two raises and me getting fuck all so I had to leave.

I bet they would too (but because I work for the beeb and get paid total dirt lbr i'd sell it to the mail) - it's definitely something I'm keeping in mind to do once I'm not employed here anymore.
