Honestly, I'm too intimidated to order like this. I always just get a tea latté.

we want you to specify hot or iced! it's important in getting your drink accurate and perfect. <3

is there a preferred order to state your order? like, should i say "latte, iced, no syrup" or "iced latter, no syrup" lol i think about this a lot cuz i know you have to put it in a machine or smth

Former barista - the type of drink (latte) and/or size (grande) first, then iced/hot, and then anything else in any order is ideal. The first button we click on is the drink, and the default size is grande, so if someone then starts rattling off a long list of specifications and skips the size, then we have to go back and ask about size. Same with iced/hot for drinks that are commonly made different ways. People often forget to mention iced or hot, and then the barista might forget to ask, and a remake slows everything down. It's easiest to get those big basics out of the way first imo (drink type, size, and hot/cold) and then click the Syrup or Custom or whatever tab to add the flavors, toppings, foams, etc.

So you'd be a super fast, easy customer if you said "grande iced latte, no syrup" or "grande latte, iced, no syrup."

oh also, if you're getting food and it's really busy, it's a big help to mention the food portion before the drink. The people working the ovens sometimes have a headset on and can pop the order in as soon as you mention it. It's much more efficient, as there's usually just 2 ovens and orders can get really backlogged.

Meanwhile, if I order a coffee one way (we'll say hot) and they give it to me another way (iced), I just roll with it because I know they aren't paid enough to deal with the daily bullshit from abusive customers and I want to make their day easier lmao.

Right!!!! WTH do people need "7 pumps of [x, y, z syrup]" for?

I like my stuff simple lol

also how did they arrive to knowing how many pumps or multiple ingredients they want? i feel like after maybe three components, you can't really tell what's in there anyway. do they have an ingredient randomizer in their heads/

that's my question--how in the hell do you come up with these complex equations? have you had starbucks in so many varieties that this is seriously the ONLY way you can handle starbucks? if regular starbucks drinks are so disgusting, why do you continue to go there? a drink mixologist would need years of data to come up with these recipes. I simply don't understand it.

/I don't have a starbucks nearby, so I just get a plain Frappuccino with whipped cream when I go to the big city to feel like Britney for a day

I have too much social anxiety to be ordering one item with this many instructions. I'd rather just make it myself if I'm that picky.

I wouldn't even know how tbh. I always just do frappucinos there or hot chocolate with maybe soymilk and that's as fancy as I get!
