Yesterday nasty-ass Josh Duggar got arrested by US Marshals and denied bail. They never said what he was charged with until now and its as bad as you would imagine

Exactly.

Like, on one hand, Josh can die, but on the other hand, he is just another product of the abysmal parenting skills these two have displayed over the years.

Who knows, maybe if they would have gotten him help when he was a teenager, we wouldn't be here right now.

Do you think? I’m not defending Jim and Michelle in any way shape or form, what they did to their kids is awful but it seems like anytime I read about pedos they don’t stop ever. I think even if back in the day he would have faced consequences for what he did to his sisters he would have still gone down this road. It’s a horrible situation.

From what I know, it's easier to treat someone with those tendencies when they're young. It's when they're adults that they can't do anything but try to keep them away from kids.

The data is skewed in a sense because we work “backwards” if someone is convicted of CP as an adult they usually have a history of molestation/CP as a child/teen.

But it’s not necessarily true that all kids/teens who molest/CP turn into pedophiles.

i think so, because part of the reason he did what he did as a teenager is because of the very sexually repressed way that jim bob and michelle raised their children. he was very rarely allowed to interact with other children outside of his siblings, probably never received any puberty or bodily education. they view even looking at a lightly dressed woman as a sin, let alone kissing or even holding hands without a chaperone before marriage. while there’s a chance that he would’ve exhibited this behavior anyway even if he’d grown up in a normal home, i think it was definitely exacerbated by the repressed atmosphere he grew up in.

Thank you everyone for the thoughtful answers❤️ I grew up in this same kind of culture(although not as extreme) and so did lots of other people I know and while we all have to some extent some fucked up beliefs around our sexuality no one has turned into a child molester. I guess it’s just a hard concept for me to wrap my head around, are people made into pedophiles, or is it something broken in their brain they were born with? I guess at the end of the day just got to be thankful that’s one less abuser in the world. Hopefully he gets the max punishment

Yes and no. If you take Josh out of the picture you still have 18 kids in an abusive cult. They were going to pay the price no matter what.

And it’s so sad also because his wife isn’t necessarily to blame but the fact that she is complicit with being married to him even after finding out he molested his own sisters and continuing to have children with him all because of their crazy religion... I don’t think she is a great person for their kids to be raised by either because she is clearly mentally unwell
