i can't wait. sambucky did an excellent job of making me care about sam. what a good man.
a counselor (a black man at that) as the face of american heroism, we love to see it. i'm not saying they handled any of it perfectly but the way he tried to reason with karli and even john touched me.
Can you imagine a trilogy with a Black Captain America and all the racists in comics fandom having a total and utter meltdown? You LOVE, and I mean LOVE, to see it.
I feel like Sam's empathy and his experience as a therapist is going to be his 'superpower', especially since we're heading into a phase with the MCU that's going to be largely about people mistrusting each other IMO (Secret Invasion coming up, Sharon being a baddie - ugh - and Wanda being cut off from everyone else I'm guessing). So they've positioned him as not only the perfect Cap but also the perfect person to compromise and reach out to unite people.
I agree! I absolutely LOVE that we are getting a black Captain America! The racist comic stans are already showing their asses. I had one tell me that Bucky was technically the only other Cap. lol They are really gonna be sick when the movie comes out.
I also love how the route they are taking with Sam. He's not trying to be Steve or anybody else. The way he treats people hasn't changed. I love the consistency in his character.

It's just also really nice that Black boys will be getting another hero they can dress up as and see themselves in, especially in the times that we live in.
I've seen idiots say that Steve Rogers can only ever be the true Captain America and I'm like, I guess that whole Isaiah Bradley storyline really went over your head hmmm? the fact that a Black super soldier had just as much inner goodness and strength as Steve yet was passed over and abused because of the colour of his skin is something you really don't care about, huh?
I already think that Sam is already going to be a more relatable Captain America for the modern audience. I also think that, thankfully, there is zero chance of him pulling out a Polaroid of his college girlfriend and teleporting back to the 90s to be with her
Because they are racist and dumb. I posted a pic of comic Sam as Cap and they never responded back. lol How are you a comic book fan and you don't know this??
These are the same people who cried into their 1960s comic collection about Samuel L Jackson being cast as Nick Fury, even though the creators of the Ultimates comics BASED THE CHARACTER ON THE ACTOR HIMSELF. Racism, it makes ya stupid!
As if you can get anyone more badass than SLJ. Marvel were the ones lucky enough to land him and not the other way around, and I'm betting Feige himself would admit that.
yes! i loved the fact that he never gave up on Karli and [spoiler for the finale]even defended her when all those senators (?) were calling her a terrorist. i love the point he brought up when he mentioned that they never considered that a teenager (!!!) lost her life trying to stop them from voting.
i wasn't very happy with the way Marvel wrote the Flag Smashers (i wasn't expecting much, anyways) but i loved Sam and how he treated them and Karli.
apparently the reason why the flag smashers felt so weak is because they cut out a lot of the plot because it was centered around a pandemic and grc withholding aid and i guess that felt a little too real to life
