After it was announced that 12 extremely rich clubs (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Juventus, AC Milan, Atlético Madrid, Barcelona, Real Madrid) were going to create their own league called the Superleague, there was a huge uproar.

Many fans believe this is the end of football and are calling out the blatant greed by the owners of those clubs.

Gary Neville (former Manchester United player and one of the most decorated English and European footballers of all time ) spoke up about the issue and has continue to express his disgust for the idea.

Absolutely brilliant this from Gary Neville.

This lot think they can sweep up £300m more each season than the other teams and then wander back on a Saturday and play with that advantage in the PL . Deduct points , fine heavily and embargo transfers. I hope they haven’t bought some of the other 14 clubs. #stopthesuperleague

In the Liverpool vs Leeds United match for the EPL (where Liverpool tied) , Leeds United players wore shirts that said "Champions League: Earn it, football is for the fans"

David Beckam also spoke up about the issue:

I’m someone who loves football. It has been my life for as long as I can remember. I loved it from when I was a young child as a fan, and I’m still a fan now. As a player and now as an owner I know that our sport is nothing without the fans. We need football to be for everyone. We need football to be fair and we need competitions based on merit. Unless we protect these values the game we love is in danger..

Real Madrid president and the one who is going to be in charge of this superleague, Florentino Perez, spoke about this:

-He says that this league was created to save football

-There are currently 12 clubs and they want them to be 15, but if PSG and Bayern Munich refuse the Superleague is continuing anyway

- He says that UEFA can't kick the teams out of the Champions League, that the law is on their side.
