Watching that I realized I hate Adam Driver’s voice.

Also, is that baby they keep throwing around suppose to be a doll?

Aww, I love Adam's voice.

I assume it's a baby. The baby/little girl is Annette.

He sounds like he has a perma-cold and can’t breathe through his nose.

Pretty sure it's a doll.

Yeah, and Annette makes me think of marionette.

Yeah it’s a doll/puppet, I thought we had finally passed the Breaking Dawn - American Sniper movie doll phase but I guess not.
Then again Leos Carax is kind of out there so maybe there’s some narrative or thematic reason for it idk, or maybe he just woke up and chose violence.
I’m excited for a truly original movie concept, I’m getting franchise fatigue.
Also I want Adam Driver to rearrange my insides.

His voice throws me off in this trailer. It doesn’t work for this, whatever this is. I guess its a musical? Can he sing?

Based on what we heard in A Marriage Story I'd say no. But then again I also don't think Emma Stone can sing and she's got an Oscar for it 🙍.

I'm guessing he won't stop these kinds of movies until he gets an Oscar

He's got that Damon/Affleck one, Gucci Time w/ Gaga, this musical, and another Baumbach coming up. He's going for it.

Does he care? I honestly can’t tell if he actually hates promoting and campaigning or if that’s also an act and he’s secretly swapping bolognese recipes with the other theatre kids.

He definitely wants it. Actors just know it’s ~cooler to pretend they don’t care after the Anne Hathaway backlash, I guess.
Also, straight&male theater kids love to pretend they are ~artists who don’t care about acclaim and attention when they wouldn’t be an actor if that was really the case.

To be fair, Adam Driver has been in "Oscar-bait" type of films for years. The public/Academy is just picking up on it the last few years. The bottom-line is that he's an excellent actor who happens to pick great roles, some of the best directors want to work with him and so he gets those supposedly "Oscar-baity" roles. A handful of his roles pre-Star Wars fame would have definitely been accused of being bait too. There was Hungry Hearts,, Tracks, Silence and Paterson. All but Silence, he did get nominations and awards for (especially Paterson--which was so, so deserved. They just didn't get major, mainstream award recognition. My point is, he isn't randomly, suddenly chasing Oscar-bait material. He's just doing what he's always done in picking roles.

He's actually a better singer than what we saw in MS (and, no, I'm not just saying that as a stan.) There's footage of him in high school singing in musicals and he sounds way better than he did in MS. I read that Adam deliberately didn't do as well as he could because his character Charlie is the director, he's not a performer, so that made sense. Sparks, the musicians behind the music of this film, have given tons of interviews over the the last few years and have said that they were surprised at how good he is. The songs are supposed to have more of a pop-rock vibe, I believe.

He has a song in an episode of Bob's Burgers where he sings with Linda. I don't know if that's his "best" singing voice, but here it is.
