The actress wore the exquisite necklace because of her new gig as the face for Cartier. Except for María Félix, the original owner, it has only been worn by Yasmine and Monica Bellucci in 2006 in Cannes.

Originally commissioned by the Mexican movie star and icon, visiting the Cartier flagship on rue de la Paix by waltzing in with live, little baby crocodile pets as source of inspiration. Félix purposely never learned English and didn’t appear in any Hollywood productions because she didn’t want to be typecast. Learning French instead and appearing in several Italian and French films, where she became friends with several artists and intellectuals, she was also known for her suntuous jewelries in the likes of animals.

The double crocodile necklace is to this date, one of the most exquisite pieces of the maison, with one crocodile covered in 1,023 brilliant-cut intense yellow diamonds weighing 60.02 carats. Navette-shaped emerald cabochons form the eyes. The other covered in 1,060 emeralds weighing 66.86-carats. It has ruby cabochon eyes. Both entirely articulated. Before her death, she sold her pieces back to Cartier to be part of its private collection. It is currently worth 67 million dollars and said to be the most expensive necklace in the world.
