Made it through the first hour and then gave up because I couldn't grasp what it was even supposed to be about. Unless you already know the real events (I assume) and all the people and companies mentioned, it's an incomprehensible shake-and-mix of scenes. I found it too strange to be entertainment, but too dull to be arthouse. Really don't understand why the critics are loving it! Also found the visual implementation very straining on the eyes.

the performances are good but it just seems like an exercise in style. my husband and i are fincher fans, and it took us like 3 sittings to watch it because it just wasn't that engaging to us. i'd definitely rather see da 5 bloods or ma rainey in its best picture spot.
