This is so sad. I loved the Arclight when lived in LA.

I'm cruuuuuushed by this. Arclight was just a great fucking place to see a movie, and I couldn't wait to go back once it reopened. I know some might argue it's just a movie theater, and surely someone/another company will buy it, and you are probably correct, but the atmosphere and general love of movies is what I will miss.

I saw a ton of Q&A's there, walked past film premiere red carpets on my way into the theater, enjoyed the costume and set displays in the lobby, spotted multiple celebs just there to see a movie, and always enjoyed the attentive, engaged crowd. I think the only bad moviegoing experience I had there was being in the audience of the infamous Green Book Q&A.

Two of the last movies I saw there were Emma and Never Rarely Sometimes Always, and those are representative of the kind of movies you could see there - yes, they had blockbusters, but it was awesome to have a place to see smaller flicks on a big screen with a good audience. One of my last vivid memories was during Emma, the crowd of like 30 people all gasped ( ... )

ugh all of this exactly. I'm gonna miss hanging out outside checking out the coffee table books waiting until they let us into theatres. I'm gonna miss the caramel corn and the tedious process of slowly pouring it into the regular popcorn container trying to avoid a big mess. I'm even gonna miss waiting in line to pay for parking after a packed screening at the dome 🥺

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I loved Alamo Drafthouse when I lived in Austin! One of my favorite experiences there was seeing The Show With No Name's special live screening!

Our local Alamo closed down but it was for good reasons. There was a lot of sexual harassment and misconduct at the theater. And Alamo tried to cover it up.

With the Paramount Decree no more I’m sure studios will start snatching up theaters.

Netflix on the phone with the bank right now.
