So I'm a casual listener of gaga and I've been listening to this album a lot throughout 2020, I gotta admit, I don't understand why it was critically panned. It's not a bad album at all, it's really fun.

It was an overproduced mess, the demos are way way better. Also by the time it came out it was already dated + r kelly is in the album. Way too many songs. The second half of the album is filler songs

Fashion? Donatella? What was she thinking when she added those songs?

Yeah - I think she over-thought much of it. Many of the demos were much better, but she went back and over-produced them.

That being said - I do like quite a bit of the album, but yeah Fashion, Donatella, and MJH could've easily been cut.

Huh.

The album has some fun parts but it's the definition of all over the place. It's so busy & messy.

The beep boops and noise and fuzz remind me of why I hated Madonna's Music & whatever the fuck American Life was. It's distracting even on the better songs.

NGL, I actually enjoyed the art, installations, weird stuff with Marina Abramovic, pop-up stores, and general over-the-topness of that whole era. I too would like to hear an Artpop II
