Joaquin would have been more deserving for You Were Never Really Here over Joker. Or even Walk the Line, I always thought he was much better than Reese.

i really hated that performance lol. i remember another capote movie came out that year with toby jones, daniel craig, sandra bullock, and lee pace and i found toby's performance superior. this year should have gone to heath in brokeback. and PSH should have won his for the master over christoph waltz in django. shuffle it up! ha

He 100% should’ve won for WtL, he embodied JR.

Reese was just okay. Like if you watch old videos of June, you will see how little Reese’s performance resembled June Carter Cash.

June was a lovely person, but awkward, silly and not a particularly confident performer. It was part of her charm.

But I really didn’t see any vulnerability like that in Reese’s performance and it still pisses me off to this day that she won for that.
