A Manhattan couple moves to a historic hamlet in the Hudson Valley and come to discover that their marriage has a sinister darkness, one that rivals their new home’s history. Based on the acclaimed novel by Elizabeth Brundage.
tbh I was intrigued until it got to the "husband tempted by young woman" shit. I'm so bored of that storyline, particularly when it paints the younger woman as a seductress rather than (what's more often the case) a victim of an older man.
I was suspicious at the beginning when she mentioned moving out there for him. Leaving the city for a farm in the middle of nowhere. Her husband doesn’t look like a farmer. lol
I've read the book and [spoiler]the young mistress is as much of a victim as his wife, and there's a significant time jump at the end where she became the lawyer who prosecute him idk if they'd add that in a 2 hour movie though.
excited to see amanda/james/natalia in a movie either way!
sorry for late reply! [spoiler]I wouldn’t say it’s straight up horror, but more domestic thrillee. right in the beginning of the book, catherine is found dead with an axe on her head and later we found out it was george who did it :/ the horror of the house is just him/their crumbling marriage. in actuality, the ghosts of the new house is the former owners warning catherine of her fate, until it’s too late. george also murdered his professor boss and attempted to kill rhea seehorn’s character. kudos for them for not revealing much in the trailer honestly, lol

Maybe it's a bit like in The Affair where it's visually presented as a he said/she said thing.
