As someone who doesn't follow these movies at all outside of seeing ONTD posts about them, I am so confused by this entire franchise. I feel like the same movie has been getting released and re-released since like 2015 like "ok we admit the last version was not good but trust us THIS version is the good one!"

So this is essentially a revamp of the first Suicide Squad movie. The Harley Quinn movie was its own thing but she was introduced in that first Suicide Squad movie.

So...is it a sequel to the first Suicide Squad? Or an actual reboot? I also haven't seen the first Suicide Squad movie so I don't know if I have to put myself through it in order to better understand this one or etc.

I’m fairly certain you don’t have to watch the first one.

It's technically a sequel but it can stand alone, you don't really need much context from the first one other than the basic concept that they're villains, and Viola Davis will make their heads explode if they don't do the mission she puts them on.

They really didn't learn from the first time around. Hopefully this is edited better. That last one could've been legitimately good but the effects, script, and editing were atrocious.
