Wasn't that the whole point of The Office though? Like did people miss that or not get it. The entire premise was that Michael Scott was a complete and total inappropriate jackass. Ditto for David Brent who was even a bigger ass.

Of course but in retrospect I think a lot of the time it really went beyond what it needed to. I also need to finish my rewatch because I don’t remember if he ever really becomes a better person or learns because by season 4ish he definitely had not hah

I routinely watch the Christmas episodes during the holidays but stopped watching this one, it makes me very uncomfortable. Esp at the end when Michael and Jim laugh about how he "can't tell them apart". Gross.

I also don't watch the S9 Christmas episode because it has full on blackface and it's slightly more self aware but like.... they still show the actor in full blackface.

i rewatched the whole show w/ my parents at the beginning of the pandemic and i had NO MEMORY of the blackface until we were watching that episode and i was like ...jfc why!!!

yes yes yes, this episode and the scott's tots episode is just an instant miss. i cannot watch those episodes for the life of me.

when he marks the girl with a sharpie so he knows "which one" he's trying to sleep with, it's so gross.
