There's something depressing about how people talk about make-up sometimes. Tinashe says she likes foundation so she doesn't look "sick and pale" and it's like...but.... that's just your skin? That's how you look, it's not sick and pale. I know I'm taking it really negatively but...idk.

Anyway, I fill in my brows and wear mascara, that's about it. Every now and then a little blush. But I have narrow lips and a sharp cupid's bow area so lipstick looks stupid on me and I've got hooded eyes so there's no point doing any cool eye looks either. (Now who sounds negative? hahaha)

Maybe she hates when people tell her she looks sick and pale, so rather than dealing with it she covers up.

Understandable, though I think in the long run covering up won't help. Because people get too used to the make up face that they will have a harder and harder time dealing with the bare face. Not just with her but in general obviously.
People should be just as used to someones bare face as they might be to their made up face.
Especially because some people are just pale, the assumption that pale = sick at all times needs to be retired. Some people are just pale or like Tinashe said in the video even when they tan easy may have spend a few days without being much in the sun.

same, i've never been much of a makeup wearer (i'm lazy and also don't like how it feels on my face lol) and it can be super depressing to hear women talk so negatively about their bare faces :/

They both talk about wanting the natural look so I don’t see it as them being negative or hating their skin. It’s about wanting to enhance what they have. I think tour average woman would want a youthful glow than a pale dry looking skin? I’m sure she knows she has good skin lol

i haven't worn much makeup during this pandemic. and because of that i had gotten used to seeing my face au naturale. i even started going on dog walks without makeup because who-the-hell-cares.

i still used makeup for zoom calls though. but last week i went without eye makeup on a family call, and after telling MIL i was tired (i meant mentally - because of work) she said i looked tired. and then she said it's because i had dark circles. i died a little inside. goodbye new-found confidence!
