Today marks 10 years since Britney Spears released Femme Fatale, her seventh studio album and her final release under Jive Records (before the label shut down and she moved to RCA).
Expressing a desire to make a "fierce dance album," Spears enlisted such producers as Billboard, Bloodshy & Avant, (unfortunately) Dr. Luke, Stargate and (unfortunately) will.i.am, who helped incorporate elements of dubstep, EDM and techno into its 12 tracks.
The Femme Fatale era became Spears' most successful on the US charts: the album became her sixth to debut atop the Billboard 200, with sales of 276,000 copies, and three of its four singles ("Hold It Against Me," "Till the World Ends," and "I Wanna Go") peaked in the top ten of the Hot 100, at numbers one, three and seven, respectively.
