they were in an open relationship all during the seven years, and then when it was announced last episode that they're apparently engaged and having a baby with toni (as friends ofc), it was also revealed that he's a mess and not ready and he imploded their relationship and they broke up or whatever? and this week's storyline was all about how he's apparently ashamed of being gay for a reason i didn't really follow in his big emotional scene post hate crime (that was brushed over completely)

the worst is that they've just been like a background couple for the first four time jump episodes, and then the first plot they got last week started with kevin hooking up with some random trucker, so the audience thinks he's cheating, only to then reveal that they've apparently been in an open relationship all this time but they're finally closing it now that they're engaged and having a baby (another two things we didn't find out until that episode) but kevin still isn't ready... it was all a very big mess and they should've just kept them in the background at this rate
