I don’t know how to embed tweets but please, please, pleeeease I am begging y’all to not watch this garbage that’s only going to harm pain patients, people with chronic pain and people who struggle with addiction

An addiction doctor airs some of the issues with this movie here: https://twitter.com/ryanmarino/status/1373476383540834305?s=21

I know I shouldn't be shocked because actors have shown numerous times how detached they can be from reality. But Mila Kunis saying it was "really fun to walk around the house with this weird meth mouth" sounds extremely gross and exploitative imo.

Also the fact that they are apparently lumping together opioid addictions with meth addictions says a lot about how careless they are being.

The character could be addicted to meth and opiates at the same time.

I was going off of what the doctor said from his tweet. He said, "the character is supposed to be addicted to opioids (not meth)." Idk maybe he's wrong. Going off of his reaction, this movie seems like a mess though

The description in the posts says she's addicted to heroin.

Wait, how did this go from opiates to meth to heroin? What a mess.

Heroin is an opiate but the meth is out of nowhere. Such a basic and careless oversight for a whole team making a whole movie about it ...

I found some reviews that clarifies it. She’s addicted to heroin, OxyContin, methadone, crack, vicodin, and Adderall.

So, no meth.

I don't think she's ever tried to claim she was woke, at least I never got that vibe from her. I always thought she came off as a "cool girl"/"not like other girls" (so just like scarlett). she's married to ashton kutcher after all

Ah yes it’s always fun to walk around pretending to have a life threatening disease without actually having it

gross, Mila

Can you explain why it's harmful? Genuinely asking.

Did you read the response tweets the OP linked?

Some comments from there:

"These roles serve as propaganda for the private prison industry & policy makers who want to use the old “tough on crime” trope. That 1% in power can only maintain it if the 99% is distracted on another scapegoat for their frustrations."

"It just contributes to further marginalizing those with addiction. And her privilege is really showing when she’s describing how “fun” and “beautiful” her special effects are."

"I worked in a methadone clinic to help pay for college, and our clients looked like ordinary people. The disease of opioid addiction does not discriminate based on wealth, age, beauty, or education...this film is a dumpster fire."
