Slow Hands is an absolute bop and Horan is definitely the most underrate of the three main 1Ders, but I'm not sure that anyone but Styles is releasing consistently good music, that's just fact. I'd even say Zayne's first album is better than Horan's output, but since then he's felt so lost.

I almost feel like he must have some negative feelings towards Styles till to not say he makes the best music.

zayn's latest album is definitely very hit or miss, but i think icarus falls gets a bad rap. at least zayn's music has some identity, harry's just cosplaying as various 60s/70s frontmen for the most part.

Yeah, I completely disagree here. Harry's identity is very apparent, he has a style and shtick and he's sticking to it, it is very derivative but the music's good and it suits him. Zayn feels like he's trying to be a hybrid of Frank Ocean/The Weeknd but the music just isn't there, it feels more forced than Harry. I will say though, I prefer Zayn's voice, I just wish he had better people around him, because I feel like his window of opportunity is passing to release good music.

i dont get him attempting to be frank or abel at all. maybe with mom there were some similar sounds, but since then zen's mixed it up enough that i dont get hints of the latter two at all.

am i crazy or is there something faintly racist about these comments?

i wouldn't say racist, just dismissive. i dont care if people dont like zayn, but i feel like it's usually people who've only listened to his singles that have the most say abt his music, which is annoying lmao. 🙃

yeah, i feel the same way. his music is very varied and often incorporates elements that pay homage to his heritage, which makes it very much his own.

Firstly I'd just like to say that I don't appreciate it being insinuated that my comments are racist, as they are not. Not to mention Zayn isn't even of the same race as Abel and Frank. I've also heard every single song Zayn has ever recorded, I'm a fan, but his album outside of his debut just aren't very good...or cohesive. I wholeheartedly agree that his music is generally at its best when he incorporates elements of his heritage, and his voice is GORGEOUS when he does this...but that's the problem, he doesn't commit to it, and instead focuses on trying to deliver mumble RnB. He has all the makings of someone that could be delivering defining music of his culture, something that has never been done before, but he doesn't.

I have nothing to add on this, but the tone of your comment "Firstly I'd just like to say that I don't appreciate it being insinuated that my comments are racist, as they are not." is very off putting. you sound like those white people who are more bothered about people calling them racist than the racism that POC face. If your comment wasn't racist, clarify it without sounding so condescending

He DEFINITELY incorporates his heritage, even in dusk till dawn you can hear it his backup vocals that he does. So for people to say he has no identity doesn’t sit right with me. People should just say they don’t listen to his albums and leave it at that.
