I'm the first to criticize age gaps in film but if it's based on a true story then who cares

True. I just feel like visually the promo image really emphasizes how much he looks like her dad here.

it doesn't help that what she's wearing screams trendy 2021 teen and he looks like an adjunct creative writing professor

Now that you say that, if he didn't have the mustache this would be my exact kink so maybe I'm just jealous.

I thought those clothes were very ahistorical until I realized they probably weren't film costumes just marketing marterial.

Yeah this was definitely a pre-production photo before a script read or something. Although I am amused that they made Phoebe wear a boiler suit while Goode just rolled up in his Sunday dad outfit.

It's very "Suburgatory" Jeremy Sisto and Jane Levy

Exactly. Complaining about an age gap when they're supposed to be the same age is one thing. They're playing two real people who are 17 years difference in age.

I'm probably just going to dig myself deeper here, but my issue isn't the fact that they accurately cast it age-wise.

It's more that they cast a guy who looks very much his age against a girl who looks 10 years younger than her actual age. There are 25 year olds that wouldn't look like kids, and she looks nothing like the real Cliff who was definitely not waifish and apple-cheeked.
