I'm always on the fence about marijuana and it's benefits. The way these companies are latching on and starting to make genetically modified weed to be stronger and more potent idk. I did once get a strain that was mostly CBD and it was really nice.

I do wish there was more funding to look at the benefits of things like mushrooms and how they can benefit you. I'm sure there's ways to remove the hallucinogenic aspect but idk

yep. I say this as a regular smoker but I do wonder the long term effects for sure. I've decreased how much I smoke significantly in the last few years. I take one hit on my one hitter and I'm done lmao

If I’m being honest as a regular smoker (or someone who was one), I think long term use has adverse affects on someone who is struggling with depression. I have found recreational use mixed with cognitive skills I had to develop with a therapist definitely helped my anxiety and panic attacks in particular. However, if my depressive mood/episode was so low that it was borderline suicidal or beyond, it was not helpful at all and rather a hindrance and an unhealthy crutch. Though I can only speak from my own experience.

Agreed. Especially if someone is genetically predisposed to addiction it might be smarter to abstain or limit usage to medicinal. My mom says you can’t compare weed usage from 20-30 years ago to now with all of the super strains and such that are available for consumption.
Psychedelics have done wonders for certain patients with depression or even addiction when done in a controlled environment with a purposeful use and outcome. There’s so much we don’t know about the human brain. So many things to still understand or unlock.

i've had to do some alternative treatments bc ptsd is a mf ride and there is some research out there that suggestions hallucinogenics help but idk. the online hype is a lot.

Yeah, especially here in the city. there's SO much out there. I recently met a women who just grows her own stuff and the percentage is much lower so I buy from her.

It sounds like you have been smoking sativas or sativa-dominant strains, which are known to aggravate anxiety in some people. I have that issue myself: sativa strains give me batshit intrusive thoughts and make me paranoid, so I stick to Indica strains (much less likely to aggravate anxiety)...but yeah, sometimes I know that I'm in a headspace where weed won't help so I abstain altogether.

I'm on the fence about it too, and I use it regularly for migraines and chronic pain. It helps, but it's not a magical cure, and it doesn't make all my pain disappear unless I'm so high I can't function. I don't mind getting high, but I don't want to have to be high 24/7 lol. I'm thankful as fuck for my state legalizing it though, because I don't have any other good options for my pain.

I hate when people act like it's just completely without drawbacks. I understand it's great for other people but I cannot tell you how many people have tried to urge me that my bipolar and OCD would disappear overnight if I quit meds and smoked weed instead lol in reality, weed actually makes my mental health issues 10x's worse but people hate hearing that.

that sounds like such an irresponsible advice, I'm sorry you hear it often :(

The research into mushrooms is starting. I believe some states or maybe some European countries are going to start looking into the therapeutic use of shrooms for terminally ill patients. Apparently it is quite helpful in easing anxiety around death.

FWIW, I do think people often over state the effectiveness of cannabis but I use it for my migraines and I can often get relief from one bowl in 10 minutes. And it's way cheaper than my $12/pill prescription migraine medication.

marijuana's straight fucked up my dopamine system so its absolutely not something to overconsume or even party with to the extent we do imo. i blame the illegal status for the lack of studies available that show the longterm effects. everyone i know that smokes heavily has rly changed from who they were before without at all wanting to admit it. not that im judging anyone bc i still smoke a lot but like, thats my point.
