FWIW he wasn’t dealing directly with the art and probably never personally saw or handled them

BUT

The financial evidence (customer resale value-vs. gallery’s purchase price-being VERY unusually high for these paintings) seems pretty clear that he had to have some idea that a scam was afoot. But the gallery was hurting for money, and tbh I don’t think he was terribly involved as an owner, so why ask questions?

I love when rich people get ripped off, but as an indigenous and black person, artifact reparation is vv important to me.
