• Mariah Carey released her critically acclaimed Memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, in the fall of 2020 (and it's very good - I've read it).

• The first part of the memoir focuses heavily on Mariah's childhood and her fractured relationship with her family - including her siblings (and boy are they NOT painted in a very kind light).

• Mariah Carey’s brother, Morgan Carey, has taken issue with some of her claims in the book (that he was physically violent towards their parents, was aggressive and volatile, and wrapped up in criminal behaviour, etc) and has filed a lawsuit against her in New York’s supreme court, alleging “defamation and the intentional infliction of emotional distress”.

• This lawsuit comes on the heels of another one filed by Mariah’s sister, Alison, who accused Mariah of causing her “heartless, vicious, vindictive, despicable and totally unnecessary public humiliation” stemming from her depiction in Mariah's memoir. Mariah alleged that Alison left her with third-degree burns after she threw a cup of boiling-hot tea on her back, offered her drugs, and sedated her with Valium when Mariah was just a child.
