Harry Potter Video Game Will Allow Transgender Characters

Players will be able to customise their character’s voice and body type as well as choose “witch” or “wizard” that determines how they are addressed during the game.

So, if I'm understanding this correctly, the character creator is going to be like "choose male or female" and you could pick 'male' and then you could customize it to be addressed as 'witch'? Is that how it's trans inclusive?

I feel so dumb. I'm just trying to figure out how this is different from any other character creator.

I think the "gender" options will be wizard or witch and then the body types will allow for more trans options. Kind of like Dream Daddy where you can have breast bindings if you want to play as a trans man (and I think there are 3 body types to chose from if you wanna be trans).

I could be absolutely wrong but that's my guess.

The post doesn't do a good job to clarify, here's what Bloomberg says. So you can create a body that appears masculine, but choose the female voice, and choose to be referred to as a witch, or whatever variation. Basically the term "witch or wizard" and what voice type isn't locked based on the male or female body type.

"When players start up the game, they will be able to create a character that has a masculine or feminine voice no matter what their body looks like, according to people familiar with the game’s development.

Players will then get to select one of two options -- “witch” or “wizard” -- that will determine the dorm they get placed in at the magical school of Hogwarts and how they are addressed by other characters in the game.
