She posted a right hand emoji plus the eye so I think that is meant to represent the hamsa

Thank you! I’m reading it about now and feel a bit stupid for not having realised its significance

It’s all good! We all learn new things every day.

Yeah, it’s pretty common to wear evil eyes and hamsas to ward off calamity and there are tons of jewish superstitions and traditions around pregnancy, like you shouldn’t say mazel tov. the theory being celebrating and talking about a good thing too much draws bad energy from others which can lead to bad stuff.
There’s an Israeli habit to say “hamsa hamsa hamsa” like you would use “knock on wood”

I admittedly have very little knowledge of Judaism so this is super interesting to me. Thank you!

There’s basically a superstition or ritual for everything, we are a perennially anxious and doom-expecting people haha

Hamsa in my (Semitic) language means five, just wondering if it means something similar in Hebrew? :)

It does! It’s really similar, in Hebrew the word for five is ‘hamesh’ (חָמֵשׁ) and the fifth letter of the Hebrew alphabet is ‘hey’ (ה) so it’s all interconnected ☺️

It really is! I love finding out all these language connections, thanks for explaining 💜

I always have this feeling when something good happens. Don’t talk too much about it.

What the others said. Personally, I wear my grandma’s Hamsa necklace and have a picture of a Hamsa in my entryway next to my mezuzah because you can never be too careful 👀
