Kate McKinnon was set to play Elizabth Holmes, a chemical engineering wunderkind who dropped out of Stanford when she was 19 to found a startup, Theranos, that would revolutionize blood testing, but then was caught falsifying results and collapsed due to financial fraud.
Hulu still plans to move forward with the miniseries, and search for a replacement. Production is set to start this summer.
Kate is currently attached to a limited series about Joe Exotic, in which she will play tiger sanctuary owner Carole Baskin.
