nah, the conception Hayek is a gold digger is the fact she's a hot as fuck woman married to an old as fuck man who also happens to be France's richest person.
i mean, y'all can problematize that and claim it stems from misogyny etc (and it does in part, obviously) but it's lol-worthy y'all think this "gold digger" chattering is limited to white people and there aren't mexicans who also think that. so lol, this is still a weird ass excuse.
I really appreciate your calling me out on my thoughtless wording. I can see how it can read as racist, because you're totally right, it is racist when I provide zero context therefore I'm terribly sorry for half-baked comment.
I know it won't be of much consequence, but what I meant by "She may be from Mexico" is that people assume that because you're from a foreign country, you can't be educated, affluent, or have your own wealth. Instead, I've seen constantly that people think immigrants are grifting on other people's wealth.
I fucked up and I'll be more mindful to fully articulate my thoughts moving forward so that I don't sound ignorant like I did up there. I may be from "el rancho" in Mexico, but am not immune to saying some dumb microagressive things. I'll do better Thanks for your patience!
"She may be from Mexico, but her dad is oil money"
Why? Is there some misconception that Mexico doesn't have oil? They are #17 of 98 in the world in oil*, but even if they had no oil at all her being from Mexico is still 100% irrelevant to this conversation.
I was LITERALLY not even 1min ago talking about the constant daily microaggressions we as Black and PoC have to deal with both online and irl and while I'm talking I randomly open this post and here's a great example.
