When Shakira came out with laundry service we all called her a sell out back in Colombia bc the album came out in english first, but once we heard the songs, we were bopping. They definitely sound better in spanish lol

I personally prefer the original (i.e. English) version of Objection, I think it was the first song she wrote by herself in English and idk, it's just so quirky and pure Shakira.

Suerte/WW are on par for me though. Timeless classics.

i don't know if i am misremembering but i think she wrote most of the songs in spanish first and gloria estefan helped with the english translation since nayib was her producer

That Was the case for Whenever and for her old songs (out of which we have Inevitable and Ojos Así), but I looked it up to check and yeah, Objection was the first song she wrote completely in English, and also wrote both music and lyrics at the same time!

Suerte / WW is so funny to me because the verses are pretty well translated, but both choruses are different and kind of nonsensical. WW wins just by being weirder (that's the deal my dear)

you're right about the translations but still in spanish doesn't sound as dumb/weird lol

i think what she's saying in both versions barely makes any sense! so it helps for it to sound weird cuz then i feel like the dumb one for not getting it
