It's pretty normal for parents to want space from their kids sometimes.. doesn't mean they love them any less or are bad parents.
However, I'm more concerned with her comparing the kids to dogs.. what's up with that? They can "sniff you out?" uh.. yeah, they came from you. They're going to be familiar with your scent. tf
Kids have this innate sense for wanting your attention the most when you have the least to give. I'll ask my kid if he needs anything, he says no, I settle in for a nice, quiet shit, and within a minute of me closing the door he's at it asking for a snack. That's what she's talking about.
I can understand. I'm sure she loves her kids wholeheartly, but honestly sometimes you need a break. And I hate this idea that once you have kids they become your whole identity.
I forgot where I read this but a someone was giving advice about parenting and they were like: Make it so your kids know once you go in your room, unless its super urgent, to give you space after a certain time of the day.
Every parent is different, but when I have kids its definitely gonna adopt this method. Like after dinner, peace out!

You're still your own person, and just like your kids want time alone, parents are allowed time without them.
