How does Ontd feel about her suing Gorilla Glue?

My guess is they will settle out of court and put disclaimers on their product.

I feel bad for her but it's clearly not a hair product and has a warning against putting it on your skin, she has no business suing them.

who cares, it's not me being sued.

I don’t think user error is grounds to sue. Maybe a competent lawyer can spin this.

I mean... I don't think she has a case. The packaging already says not to use on skin. Scalp = skin.

BUT, Gorilla Glue might not want to spend the money on legal fees. So they might just settle out of court. If they want to fight it though, they might be able to get the case dismissed pretty early on in procedings.

I feel like settling could open the door to other lawsuits from user error and they probably don't want to do that.

Good point. So I guess they'll fight it. And probably win.

I think it's all going to come down to whether a judge determines that the warning "do not use on skin" means a reasonable person would know to not then use it on their hair.

My understanding of the situation from social media (which isn't always true, so bear with me) is that she did not in fact confuse with Gorilla Snot, which some people assumed, but that she knew it was Gorilla Glue; she just didn't realize how difficult it would then be to get off. Which means she knowingly used a product incorrectly and for its non-intended use, so personally I don't see on what grounds she's suing.

(but I also have my suspicions that they'll settle to avoid bad publicity.)

I’m assuming the company will give her a small sum of money to settle it. I worry more about her being taken advantage of by a lawyer looking to take even that small settlement.

Watching lawyers on twitter argue over this was entertaining.

If I were her (and could afford it) I'd sue (or murder) all the fucking assholes who mocked her on the internet, but I'm not sure what grounds does she have for suing the glue company. It's not a hair product and I'd be surprised if it doesn't have the same million "DO NOT EAT, RINSE IMMEDIATELY IF PUT ON SKIN" warnings most chemicals do.

It's clearly for things like wood, not hair. I don't think she really has grounds to sue them because it is a good product and I've used it for repairs.

according to her own words (on tiktok and that radio interview) she didnt mistake gorilla glue for a hair product and thought it would wash out later that day.

her lawyers can only argue that "don't apply to skin" is too vague for people to understand that it shouldn't be used on hair. GG will say she put it on her scalp which is skin.

I don't think she has a case but who knows with judges.

i don't know man. i feel bad for her because i don't know what can be done to help her - is there such a thing as industrial dermatologists? but like ... suing for what? what negligence can she say the company did?

i can't even see the company settling out of court to make it go away tbh. i think best case scenario is she gets on ellen, makes it into a funny story where she takes full responsibility and ellen pays for whatever medical treatment they can think of.

I don’t think that’d make a strong case unfortunately. Bc it’s nagl. They will settle it out and need to ensure the fine print read bigger in its disclaimers tbh. I really feel for her. ;(
