Other reality singing competitions sure but AI is probably one of the most successful cases.

Kelly, Fantasia, and Carrie have been some of most successful winners.

And even some of the non-winners went to have careers.

I was going to say Jackie Evancho but I looked it up and she came in second to some white guy with a guitar that I've never heard of. It's crazy how every show but Idol can't figure out a way to market their winners to some low level of success.

That said, for every JHud or Kelly Clarkson, there's got to be a hundred people chewed up and spat out. :-/

Sure, 5 couples out of the 20 seasons have stayed together. Sure, 2 singers out of 19 seasons have gone on to have lasting careers. A couple others transitioned to some Broadway success.

It's still not GREAT odds.
