He should stay off the internet. The whole thing with Leigh and Rochelle is really disheartening. I know that Leigh came up with the concept but I think maybe someone else should be the face of it.
The stuff with Rochelle is just shocking... Channel 4 is already backtracking and saying Candice was not in the running and it was going to be a different show. Just shocking

Yeah, Rochelle was always my favorite member of The Saturdays but let's not pretend she has half of Candice's knowledge and qualifications on the topic, because this is literally what Candice does as a focus of her life.

ETA: The fact Candice offered to co-present with Rochelle & that was denied too is what really sends me, like.. I understand wanting your ~celebrity face, but are you kidding me?

Candice Braithwaite was working with Channel 4 and/or some production company on a documentary that looks at the rate of mortality for black women in the UK. They recently replaced her or announced they were going to have Rochelle Humes present it. Candice has written a book about it and is far more qualified than Rochelle. Seems they just wanted someone more marketable and palatable to present it, which is a bit disheartening.
This explains it a bit: https://www.voice-online.co.uk/news/uk-news/2021/02/07/candice-brathwaite-rochelle-humes-and-the-black-maternal-mortality-documentary/

You could have just said light skinned. I don't mean that in a snarky way, and that iswhat I suspected before I clicked the link. Whoever is producing it maybe shouldn't be if they're being colorist right out the gate? There's nothing palatable about black women dying anyway.

fair enough, I could have said that. Not only colourist but I'm sure they have also stolen some of her ideas. It is sad

Hmmm, their explanation that 2 different production companies were working on the same thing simultaneously doesn't hold up. Seems like they shopped the doc around and used Candice purely for info. Really disgusting of them. White institutions will always fuck us over.

Ugh, I had no idea until today that Candice Braithwaite was originally supposed to present instead of Rochelle.

It clearly debunks Leigh-Anne's fiancé's claim that other high profile black women just don't want to do these documentaries on race. Instead it seems obvious that darker skinned black women are being pushed to the side in favour of lighter skinned black women.
