All I can think about is how horrible that childbirth experience must’ve been

are the scissors part of his actual body, not just stuck on? I never saw the movie. like ... he grew a red pair of scissors in utero?

He wasn't born like that but he was made into a Frankenstein monster type creation with scissor hands.

Edward? No he was created in a lab by this weird scientist/inventor dude. His hands are scissors haha. I can’t remember exactly but I think in the movie he was out of hand molds or some dumb shit so he was like oh scissors work fine

absolutely mental choice to use scissors

no hands would be better than scissor hands

It was Tim Burton in the early 90s, we didn’t ask questions

Both great. I’ve seen most of his movies and the only ones I don’t really care for are Alice in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

My fave is Sweeney Todd, but also love Batman Returns and Edward Scissorhands (and The Nightmare Before Christmas, if that counts). Beetlejuice and Sleepy Hollow are up there too.

The old inventor had like, cookie making and vegetable chopping robots (who had scissor like arms/hands) in his mansion and he turned one of the chopping ones into Edward. At the moment of wanting to finish him, just as he was presenting Edward his hands, he died. Though also, this commercial makes no sense in the context of the movie, because at the end of it she lives on to be an old grandmother and Edward is alone and seemingly immortal and hasn’t aged up in his mansion that overlooks the town. It’s all fantasy so logic out the door, and despite what it’s main star and director have now become...it’s a sweet, sad, and funny movie with a killer score.

Ha! Well yeah Tim Burton used to make bonkers and ultimately, pretty unique films back in the day. Then he got all boring and less creative as his career went on. It’s funny to think how successful they were given how out there they were.

Why like
Use that component to make Edward if you’re gonna give him “real hands” anyways later
Seems like unnecessary work

It's realistic in that bad inventors exist. Look at the speculum...
