February 5, 2021 Forbes has done an analysis of Armie Hammer's Hollywood career, noting his box office returns make him not worth the trouble of defending in light of abuse and cannibalism allegations. Additionally, Forbes scathingly places Hammer as "one of many handsome white male actors who have been anointed the next-big-thing and have stuck around for ages despite never really delivering on that alleged promise."
Of seventeen feature films Hammer has starred in, none have been box office successes. Two franchises (The Lone Ranger and The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) were handed over to him on a silver platter and both flopped. Aside from Sorry to Bother You and Call Me By Your Name, he is basically box office poison. Forbes adds he doesn't even bring the prestige label to a production as a reason to save his career.
As Forbes scathingly notes, "Hammer is a classic example of a handsome (OP note: debatable) and talented (OP note: also debatable) white actor arbitrarily treated like a movie star despite having almost no hit movies to his name...Hammer becomes just another “next Tom Cruise” who wasn’t."
