I don't really care for the cover trend that's overly simplified vector art in bright colours. They all look the same.

None of these really appeal to me but I've been mega slow reading for the past two months. :(

I really want this trend to die, please. I think it's all just one and the same book when scrolling through my library sites.

IA! I had The Removed and The Vanishing Half on my bookshelf next to each other and they basically have the same cover

Relatedly, it seems like they've really embraced the blue/orange thing and use one or the other heavily. I guess they stand out next to each other, but even though I love the color blue, it's getting to be a lot!

I finished Luster and Piranesi the past weeks.

I'm still a bit meh on reading books, looking at rereading Sandman Chronicles, my Buffy novel or maybe even Dance of Dragons. I just don't know what I want to read right now 😭

Did you like Luster? I have it on my TBR.

I don't think 'like' is the right word for it. I was impacted.

Lol, fair. I'll keep it on the list then.

I haven't heard good things about "Much Ado About You" so I don't think I'll be checking that one out.

I read "The Lady's Guide to Mischief and Mayhem" last week and HATED IT. It was a bad mystery and a bad romance, which pissed me off. The writing sounded more like someone doing a Victorian cosplay than anything else. Unfortunately, one of the reasons I don't read thriller/mysteries often is because no matter how bad the writing is, I always want to finish the book to see how it gets solved, which is why I kept reading this one.

I'm reading "Outlawed" as a physical copy and have a jump-the-line ebook of "Detransition, Baby" on my phone. I'm not far enough in either to have an opinion.

I've been so obsessed about books lately (thank you Trump for leaving office and giving me some brain power back!) and wanting to talk about them that I'm considering a book instagram or youtube. Does anyone here have one?

I don't have one, but I watch booktube videos quite a bit! Were you thinking about focusing on specific genres or just any books?

I don't know! I started wathing people to get a feel for it and I noticed a few things, like 1) so many seem to read YA fantasy and while I read it, it's not my main genre and 2) physical copies dominate both platforms. I live in a tiny apartment and don't have the space for a full library and don't want to get caught in the mindspace of purchasing high quantities but never reading them (I already do that with makeup lol).

If I did focus on anything, it would probably be women's lit and romance.

I think there's definitely a market for women's lit & romance! Do you usually check books out from the library or use e-readers? NGL if they're from the library, the first thing that came to mind was centering a channel around the fact that the books are borrowed from the library--'Borrowed Book Reviews' or somesuch.

Also, if you do start using social media for book reviews, definitely look out for advanced review copies that publishers will send out for free in exchange for an honest review. (I'm not 100% sure if publishers do this for people who do youtube exclusively, but it's not uncommon for blogs.) That way you can just donate them/give them away when you're done!

I love Jane Harper's writing. She makes "ordinary" people feel so interesting and real. I have to wait 6 months to get her newest at my library, wail, I may just buy it.

I'm trying to read more fiction these days. I finished The Silent Companions, which was pretty good. Now I'm reading Sin Eater, but I'm not super into it.

Also trying to branch out in my history reading. I started Queen of Versailles: Madame de Maintenon, First Lady of Louis XIV's France and it is soooo dense.
