These are the HORRIBLE things that Katherine Heigl did:
- They did work around her movie schedule and the crew worked long hours and she (stupidly) used that as a "funny" anecdote on a talk show about how she had to work such long hours at Grey's.
- She didn't put her name up for Emmy consideration because the writing was trash and she didn't want to be honored for trash when other actresses/writers deserved it more (although she said it nicer).
- She did mention when she won something that her name was said incorrectly. (GASP! How dare she.)
- She called out Isaiah Washington for calling her best friend/co-star T.R. Knight the "f" word and essentially skating on it, and making T.R. feel like shit on set. NO ONE ELSE CARED. Shonda didn't give a fuck. Shonda only fired him because of the optics. Katherine kept harping on it though because T.R. was FUCKING MISERABLE.
- She called out Knocked Up for being sexist after the fact. Why after the fact? Because she had money, and power and was a lot more successful then and could do it.
And.... that's pretty much it. That is the sum total of her "crimes." I'm pretty sure.
Shonda didn’t even fire IW because of optics, the higher ups FORCED her. She didn’t want to do it. She was pissed and basically alienated TR and gave him shit storylines as a result. And Katherine too. Ghost sex was ridiculous. I don’t blame her for not returning after maternity leave. She has also talked about how much she was struggling to bond with her oldest daughter and that was taking a toll on her.
Ooh, you're right. I edited my post below that repeated this info. Shonda was basically dead to me after all of this shit. She screwed both Katie and T.R. so hard. They were my two faves.
Also, with Knocked Up, she was specifically asked if she thought it was sexist and she responded that in hindsight the final product did end up being quite sexist. And she was fucking CORRECT.
Even back when she was getting the backlash I didn’t understand why. She did complain a lot, though frankly the majority of her complaints were completely valid and justified. The storylines she was clumped with on Grey’s were ridiculous and made her character unlikeable. When she decided not to submit her name in the Emmys I thought her reason for it made sense, but of course people had to label her ‘ungrateful’.
I never understood the guff she got for comments on Knocked Up because she was 100% correct. I remember reactions to it being very "HOW DARE SHE" and calling her ungrateful and everything, like god forbid someone has the gall to criticize Judd Apatow's GENIUS
Same, I didn’t think she was all that nasty about it, it’s not like she called the writing crap or anything, she was just giving her honest opinion on how that kind of movie can write women in a very stereotypical way. The huge fuss it generated really surprised me when geez it’s not like she was wrong
