this show introduced me to Romain Grosjean and it made me even more sad/scared after his accident

he seems to be recovering well and can cuddle his cat again

Yeah I started the show after the 2020 season was over so I knew nothing but yeah I know those cars have come so far in terms of safety but I still couldn’t believe he actually made it out of that accident.

I was certain he was dead when he crashed and you saw that his car had gone up in flames. you do not see that at all these days, I can't remember a single instance of that happening since I started watching f1 and I've been watching since '97 and have some memories going back to '94. it was grim.

the fact that he even considered racing in abu dhabi was insane considering that his hand still looks like it has a long way to go to heal completely... must have been doped tf up when he was considering that lmao

Same. I felt such dread. Plus I dated a guy who was very into F1 and the Ayrton Senna doc and just seeing this happen I thought, oh god this is the next documentary.

ugh i considered mild interest in f1 to support fellow vegan lewis hamilton and tbh he stays out there representing and then I see his fucking covid recovering ass head on vacation so like

also its such a dangerous sport I'm still not over Jules Bianchi

it kills me how, only a few months before that, for the 20th anniversary of senna&ratzenberger, everyone was going on about how safe f1 was and how long we'd gone without a death... :/

leclerc, norris and all the other ones who went partying in dubai or wherever because they ~needed a break can kiss my ass. you're all rich as fuck, you've got more than enough to keep you entertained at home

this season was unexpectedly pretty great. some great tracks we hadn't seen in ages, and honestly I really could do without having a monaco gp ever again, didn't miss it at all

oh and FUCK mazepin, that's all.

the fact that F1 has welcomed with open arms one of the oligarch families that's closest with Putin into the paddock is like nearly unconscionable, like.... if Nikita was some prodigy level talent I might be able to choke down my disgust, but the kid is minimally talented at best and an actual danger on and off track at the worst, plus he stole Callum's seat and that just makes the whole thing worse

I don't watch the feeder series so I didn't really know what he was like as a driver but my god, a compilation video of his boneheaded moves told me all I needed to know. how tf can they allow that in their team? like I know haas need money but ffs they have a schumacher in their team now, is that fact alone not a sponsor magnet? I mean I really don't know much about the money side of it all but I can't believe that this was their only option

and that's just his on-track behaviour, I'm not even gonna comment on that video. trash.

So Dmitri Mazepin makes Lawrence Stroll look poor - Stroll has like a couple billion, Mazepin has 10s of billions... even bb Schumi with all his sponsors and family money isn't even in the same stratosphere, It's Mazepin's money that is funding Haas nearly on his own, without it they wouldn't be in the paddock... it fucking sucks in every way

Ooh could be interesting. Formula One (training and race days) were always on TV in our household when I was growing up

it's been pretty wild to witness the huge growth F1 has had in popularity since the first season was released, my grandfather was a Ferrari fanatic so I grew up watching Schumacher, and then kept watching because I was obsessed with Jenson Button and Nico Rosberg (lol) - but this new young generation are legit soooo fun and have kept me interested even while the actual racing quality since 2016 ended has eroded to utter utter shit

I’m a late fake fan so the only thing I know about Jenson is that I think that’s a fine white man and he’s a good driver and that Nico is a very talented driver who may hate Lewis. Why do you think the quality of the racing has gone down?

my all time favorite team (Brawn GP)
ross brawn is the goat figure in f1 history imo. won with benetton, crucial to that iconic ferrari team, won with his own damn team and laid the groundwork for the merc dominance

ia about rosberg, these past few seasons have really made me miss him. bottas is not it.
