I think I missed that release, which is a shame, because I've seen several people say it's good! Will have to check that out.

Sadly the lockdown has really killed my love of film. I used to go to the cinema two or three times a week, I would go see movies of any length, didn't matter, as long as I was in the theatre I could focus. But at home, I'm like, "any good movies that are an hour and ten minutes long? thanks." I can barely find any motivation, so I haven't seen most of the new stuff that's been released. My brain can't handle it here.

I did finally watch John Carpenter's The Thing this week, after years of wanting to and knowing the ending. And it frigging blew me away. I want to watch it all the time now. I think I'm gonna do it annually.

God, same. I hate that 2020 killed my love of film not only bc of that, but mainly bc I compared myself to others too, too much, but I'm slowly getting out of it. I just need to remind myself that it's ok if I'm not in the mood and it's also ok if I fall a little behind. All that matters is that I get back up. IDK when that will be, but I have to be sure of it.

Also, I watched Palm Springs on NYD and LOVED it. The Thing is ALSO aces!

Yeah, I used to be too broke to be able to go to the cinema regularly, and I always dreamed of the day I would have enough money to go see a movie whenever I wanted. I probs wouldn’t have gone 2-3 times a week like you but I dreamed of at least being able to go 2-3 times a month as opposed to 2-3 times a year.

Now, I finally have a steady job where I make enough to be able to blow money on movie tickets and...... there’s a pandemic and even if I wanted to risk my life there isn’t a single cinema open anywhere near me. LOL. I try to keep up with streaming releases but it’s just not the same!!!

Of these, I'm interested in In & Of Itself, which I never got around to seeing live, and maybe Spoor once it's streaming somewhere. And Psycho Goreman looks pretty... cute? Haha.

Past week's watches:

- MLK/FBI: Interesting and informative, but I didn't like the design or the editing. Lots of footage of MLK I'd never seen before.
- One Night in Miami: Pretty good for a debut film, but I didn't love it. Kingsley Ben-Adir and Aldis Hodge were the highlights for me, but I've seen a lot of people say the opposite so idk. Leslie Odom Jr.'s voice is incredible.
- Promising Young Woman: Really liked this. The script could have used a bit more work, imo,, but the casting was aces and I enjoyed the stylization and heightened reality.

We also finished up the 2017 season of GBBO (labeled as Collection 5 on Netflix) and [Spoiler (click to open)]I was so happy that Sophie won! I'd been rooting for her for a while. And I'm not usually like this about people on GBBO, bc I know they are just normal people and everyone has flaws, but I fucking hated Stacy and was legit ... )
