January 19, 2021 As the age of Chris Evans declines, the rise of Pedro Pascal continues. Sorry Chris stans, I don't make the rules.
After his breakout roles on Game of Thrones and Narcos, Pedro Pascal has skyrocketed into stardom thanks to his roles on The Mandalorian and Wonder Woman 1984 (the latter of which OP still refuses to watch even for Pedro, but I digress...)
Writer Anne Thompson sat down for a (phone) interview to discuss his newfound success: (slight spoilers for S2 of The Mandalorian)
Dave Filoni on why Pedro was chosen to play the Mandalorian: “He can be charming and intense,”[...] “All this street cred for fighting, you believe that. The Mandalorian is not a man of many words. That’s part of his charm. What he says is more meaningful, as he gets fond of the kid.”
On finally showing his face during the last two episodes of Season 2: “The entire idea of getting to inhabit somebody who, since they were a child, no human has seen their face,”[...] “it was almost impossible to imagine the level of nakedness and exposure, the overwhelming paralysis. It can’t happen, but it’s a mission and the child has to be saved. It was a super-exciting dance of profound, incredible restraint and total exposure. I can count on my one hand the lines the character had. On the other hand, he’s desperately trying to hide in a room without a mask with his face exposed. It was cool and it was strange.”
On Season 3: "I am told what's happening and what the plan is, but I can't share it."
