I hate it when parents give their kids weird names only to end up using a nickname (in this case Finn) anyway.

Also they probably meant to be all religious with their children names but jikes "the name Phineas was taken up in the U.S. by representatives of White Supremacy and became one of their hallmarks" at least that's what the German wikipedia page says
