In 2010 movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Brie Larson plays the frontwoman of fictional band The Clash at Demonhead, where she covers "Black Sheep," a song originally written and performed by Metric. Much to the disappointment of fans of the cover (there are dozens of us!), the cover wasn't included on the offical soundtrack and there was no ( Read more... )

I always wanted to watch Scott Pilgrim back in the day (I'm 34 now) bc it was referenced a lot and never got the chance. I kinda still want to watch it honestly but also feel like I missed the boat on this movie and won't really find it funny anymore. Does this movie still hold up?

I say give it a shot. I'm also 34 and haven't seen it in awhile, but it was definitely well after the hype and I enjoyed myself. Some of the Quirky MPD Girl shit is v annoying but probably won't totally tank it.

Michael Cera is almost intolerably annoying at this point but the rest of it is pretty great. I also recommend the graphic novels, where Scott is more fleshed out, and Bryan Lee O'Malley's other graphic novel, Seconds. I particularly love Seconds!

I've watched it for the first time in December and I really liked it. I haven't seen any other movie like this one so it felt new to me. Brie's character is also amazing. Chris Evans was still likeable. Kieran Culkin is the best in it.

The one negative point is the main protagonist. Such an awful character, played by awful Michael Cera. He's a mediocre's man power fantasy. But I think you should watch it. It's not as "bro humor" as I thought.

I’m the same age as you and I say watch it. It’s a nice mindless flick. It actually has a cult following so it’s still pretty relevant even though it’s been some time.

I'm in my 30s too. I watched it for the first time 1 or 2 years ago. I didn't like it lol. I didn't even finish it.

I'm 38 (god help me) and I still rewatch this movie at least once a year. Granted, I'm also a giant nerd and grew up in Toronto so it all helps. Never read the original comic though.

I’m 22 (not that my age is relevant for this comment aha), but as a fellow ONTD Canadian, i highly recommend the comics! They’re really well done!

It's a fun movie, Cera and Winstead are the leads but everyone else outshines them big time, I personally love the editing and pacing specially the fight scenes so I think it's worth watching.

I honestly didn’t like it much when I watched it back in the day. Someone else mentioned that the side characters outshine the leads and I agree. Kieran was my favorite character back when I watched. I did love the aesthetic of it lol

I would watch it! The aesthetics are pretty unique, and there's not really anything out there like it that I'm aware of. Like others have mentioned, the leads are the worst part, but there's soo many good actors playing the supporting/side characters that it's still fun to watch.

There's a plot with the main character (in his 20s) dating a high schooler which is gross and wouldn't get greenlit today but back then was ok I guess? And no one else has mentioned this, but I also hated that they made the asian girl predictably the quiet/nerdy/innocent girl
