I know Black people love to yell "Tuskegee!" and I get it but this is not at all like that. It's a very American-centric way of thinking, especially because EVERYONE EVERYWHERE is dealing with it. Also, the government or The Powers That Be don't need to inject anything into you to watch you. Certainly not in 2021.

It's frustrating how often that story is misrepresented. Doctors weren't going around giving people syphilis, for starters.

We also have some parts mixed up with others. iluvpans January 16 2021, 06:45:21 UTC

I’ve noticed a lot of white antivaxxers bring up Tuskegee to validate their science distrust.

I honestly think people were already antivax and then they learnt about Tuskegee and used that to justify their stance.

I feel the same. I'm still wondering what the longer-term effects are.

They might be in Canada. The government is stating that every Canadian who wants a vaccine *should* be able to get one starting in August/September (although it was also just announced that we are having supplier issues and there hasn't been a wide scale rollout plan announced, i.e. will this be available at pharmacies, etc.).

As an emergency worker who was forced to get it to do my job and help, Im glad I could be the expendable group who will suffer from the long term effects, if any, that everyone likes to mock. I dont know if thats your intended tone but i get that a lot and its a bit upsetting that everyone thinks its just rich people getting this when tons of emergency workers HAD to get it to take care of our communities with very little information the long term effects. People will say "its part of your job" but that doesnt make peoples insensitive remarks any less hurtful.
