"A teaspoon of turpentine will not kill you," Haddish told GQ. "The government doesn't want you to know that if you have a cold, just take some turpentine with some sugar or castor oil or honey and it'll go away the next day."

lmaooooo here it is!!

Wtfffffff how has this not been shared more. Especially with it being in GQ, I’m surprised I haven’t seen it posted

to be fair it’s from 2018 ish I think so that’s why but she’s definitely been big on the ~big government ~big pharma side for a while so it’s not surprising that she’s anti vaxx

i can’t blame a BW for being hesitant to put faith in the racist medical industry. but the rest of all of this is just whew chillay

don’t get me wrong! as a woc I definitely understand general comms hesitations with the medical establishment, but I feel like once you cross into thinking big pharma/government/insert ominous power here you’re kind of toeing more into legit conspiracy than valid concerns about medical wellbeing or good faith questioning, like you said the rest of it is.... a choice

I have a neighbour that is nearly 100 years old and I recall her telling me this too. Sweet old woman. I discounted it to her being from a different time.

Drinking turpentine is an old backwoods/uneducated home remedy. It comes from people who couldn't afford to go to a doctor/were afraid of medical professionals.

I can't believe in 2021 she's out there being anti-science, anti-vaxx, and so ignorant. This isn't 1930, there's no excuse for it.
