Why would we ban them? If it wasn't for ONTD I either wouldn't know about this or think it was just a few creepy texts about pretend cannibalism, when what he's done is much more heinous and serious. Knowledge is about the only thing we have in cases like this - to know what he's done and not support him or any project he's attached to. I agree it's not your run of the mill scandal, but this is probably one of the only places talking about what happened and not being like "well those girls like kink so what's the problem? gold diggers/kink shaming". Every other website is pretty much full of dumbass takes like that.
It's just what I'm feeling. I'm not saying it is grounds for being banned, I would just love very much to not hear about this man again. And considering the fact that ONTD is just a place where sources are reposted, this information is very easy to find. Commentary from people reading what's happening is different and I get that, but I mean you have a post a few notches down from this one that was a pathetic attempt at dark humor about what's happening, so is this place really all that better?
I understand it's a very unsavory, to say the least, topic, in which case it's easily skippable. Most OPs have been gracious enough to us cuts so that those of us who want to not deal with this can scroll past.
I would say that yes, dark humor, while super distasteful to some with good reason, is a less offensive reaction than people who either truly think all of this is a made up smear campaign or that his behavior is not serious/that his sexual partners are at fault or had it coming.
For real, this is the only place I see it being talked about openly. Everywhere else is silence or people saying they liked rough sex so what?!? I am fine with banning him if he goes on a redemption arc movie promo blitz later though.
As uncomfortable as the the content of these posts are making me, I don't think we should ban them. A lot of ONTDers are screenshotting what his victims are saying and helping to spread the word about how awful he really is where a lot of other places on the internet don't believe what's being said or think it's that bad.
