I'm an EU citizen, so Spain would be the easiest. But I'd pick NY, if I had tons of $$$$$$. I haven't been to Boston, is it worth seeing as a tourist?

honestly, boston is cute as shit. very walkable, clean, and green. the people are insular, but not mean. i moved away about a month ago, so i speak from experience in that it was a major draw for EU tourists because...it's basically western europe with an USian accent (and it's fairly cheap to fly to).

idk when or if ever the bubble will burst for boston or if it will just shift back and forth to the outskirts like it is right now with covid. i know folks my age who moved onto chelsea, framingham (which is so pricey near the CR wtf), and plymouth to get away from having roommates. boston is throwing up apts *now* but it's just not enough to make up for the willful neglect of decades of housing policy. and then the affordable housing requirements don't help as well! i tried entering a housing lottery for a studio and was turned down because i didn't make exactly 70 or 100% AMI. i was in between...like most 20 and 30-somethings. the fact that i could actually afford the apt didn't matter.

sorry, i just still have a lot feelings about...a lot of boston/MA's policy decisions. the wound is too fresh

Boston has a very residential vibe to it imo. I wouldn’t really consider it a tourist spot although maybe it’s worth to go if you want to visit universities like Harvard.

It’s okay for like a day or two lol it’s more like a town the downtown is pretty walkable and then if you wanna go to Cambridge to see Harvard that’s all doable in a day

That seems to be the general consensus. Flights are cheap when there is no pandemic, so Boston could be a long 'layover' during a longer trip, not a main destination.

I really liked Boston because it reminded me of a cleaner version of NYC, you have the hustle and bustle of the city but it’s very suburban feeling too. The suburbs surrounding Boston are really cute, especially in the fall.

totally! between all the revolutionary war history, the universities, catching a game at fenway, the strong local beer scene etc there's plenty to see & do in the city itself - I am counting cambridge/shit that is on the T as "the city" lol.

and if you rent a car, there are SO many quaint & charming smaller cities and towns in new england within an hour or two's drive. highly rec newport & the vanderbilt mansions as a day trip if you ever do make it out here.

No. I hate it here. It's racist and boring.

I'm sorry, hope you'll get a chance to move somewhere more welcoming. ❤️

Aw thank you. There’s a lot of institutional racism here that’s not as overt, so from time to time it sneaks up on you and wears you down. Also, the over abundance of dude bros due to it being a big sports and college town is a definite negative to me.

the covert racism in boston is just...so very. boston thinks of itself as much more progressive than it actually is. hell, the entire state, even. having been born and raised in the south, i just wasn't ready for it.
