I just watched it and it is nagl. Kirby is lovely. His character's behavior is awfully close to the allegations in the lawsuit. It's chilling

"I just watched it and it is nagl"

are you saying the film was good out of the context of the shia abuse? but knowing the deets about him and fka make it less enjoyable?

The movie is really well-acted and sad. I burst into tears once. But I found it IMPOSSIBLE to not conflate the actor and the character.

I said this in another post but I agree-his character’s violent outbursts weren’t so much acting as they were glimpses of his real personality and behavior. It was unsettling, to say the least.

Totally agreed. It was extremely uncomfortable and not for the right reasons.

This!! I actually couldn’t watch all of the film. I watched it because I wanted to see Vanessa Kirby’s performance and I thought I could separate the actor from the character with Shia. But as soon as I saw he was drinking... red flag. Then when he first gets violent I had to turn it off because I no longer saw it as acting or a character, it was a glimpse at the abuse this man has actually inflicted. It was too much for me, in many ways, to watch the rest.

I don’t blame you for turning it off. And tbh you didn’t end up missing much bc the movie was just average imo!
