  • Last week, allegations surfaced on TikTok and other social media outlets claiming 37-year-old fashion designer Alexander Wang drugged and sexually assaulted a number of people (mostly models) over the years.
  • He has since denied the allegations in a statement and claims that he is the victim of false fabrications. He also said that he will be holding the alleged victims accountable for their false claims.

His statement to the New York Times + Instagram post

"Over the last few days, I have been on the receiving end of baseless and grotesquely false accusations ... These claims have been wrongfully amplified by social media accounts infamous for posting defamatory material from undisclosed and/or anonymous sources with zero evidence or any fact-checking whatsoever. I never engaged in the atrocious behavior described and would never conduct myself in the manner that’s been alleged. ... I intend to get to the bottom of this and hold accountable whoever is responsible for originating these claims and viciously spreading them online."

He also posted the statement below to Instagram two days ago. It has been liked by Issa Lish (model), Samira Nasr (Editor in Chief of Harper's Bazaar) and Alana O'Herlihy (photographer and close friend of the Hadids).

No statements have been made by Alexander Wang's close fashion friends who are often featured on his social media. Zoë Kravitz posted a photo on Instagram for his birthday with the caption, "happy birthday you absolute trouble maker." just before the allegations came out. She has since changed the caption to simply "happy birthday @alexwangny", which is still up on her profile.

Accusers retain Lisa Bloom for potential legal action

Several of Alexander Wang's accusers have retained Lisa Bloom, a lawyer who has handled many high profile sexual assault and harassment cases, while the designer continues to deny the allegations against him. https://t.co/ZwB6pMOPXI

  • Following his denial, some of his accusers have retained attorney Lisa Bloom.
  • Bloom is well known for representing sexual assault victims, including in cases against photographer Bruce Weber and Bill O'Reilly. (She also advised Harvey Weinstein, however.)
  • In a statement to Vogue, Bloom said: The fashion industry is long overdue for a reckoning of its frequent, disturbing mistreatment of models. I’ve represented many alleging sexual misconduct in recent years, including against Paul Marciano, Bruce Weber, and others. Models are not props, and they have the same rights to workplace respect as everyone else.
