And to be an even bigger Debbie Downer: I don't get the 'fun' of blackouts. The only one I had was because of mixing medicine with alcohol, it was terrifying and came out with it with my pinky broken. People bragging about blacking out regularly are like a filter: don't need those in my life.

Same. I’ve only blacked out once and it led to an injury. Not fun in any way.

"Kelly recalls the aftermath from a trip to the dentist which resulted in multiple jewelry purchases she didn't remember making and going to rehearsal with her band and apparently not recognizing them playing her own music ("That ain't my song").
"

You'd think whoever the sellers were would probably notice that she's kinda out of it? guess not I've heard of celebs having similar stories.

Blacking out sounds scary.

in my xanax days i was sometimes blacking out and literally no one knew. not my closest friends, not my coworkers, nada. its not necessarily being drunk when you are slurring or losing your balance-- its more like just operating on autopilot.

for some reason, when celebs are clearly on something (if they’re not being aggressive etc) everyone from waiters to shopgirls to flight attendants pretends it’s all completely normal, nothing to see here.

It's so weird to me to hear people talking so comedically about blacking out. To me, waking up not knowing what happened the night before is a terrifying experience. It was the first time I really thought "oh I have an actual drinking problem." And then I continued to do it for a few years before getting sober.

imo, if you're drinking to the point where you blackout, especially if it happens multiple times, it's time to reconsider your relationship with alcohol.
