Isn't she British? The student loan excuse feels like a bit.... We don't have crazy interest rate and race to pay it back like Americans - especially not at 21.
Rẹ: 10 years ago. It wasn't different. I graduated as quantum of solace was coming out. I've been unemployed, waitressed, and my loan repayment was proportional. I finally got into the swing of things but I still work freelance. I have like £6k left. I think she is just repeating things she has heard her American actress friends say.
It's the third or fourth role she ever filmed and it's extremely likely she auditioned before even getting her roles in RocknRolla and St. Trinians. If she had students loans she definitely had not gotten enough work yet to pay it off. So that bit is credible.
The story of a girl fresh of drama school only taking a Bond girl role for the money and not for the exposure sounds a bit disinginuous though. Especially since the movie was the follow-up to the well-reviewed Casino Royale that had done wonders for Eva Green's career.
She could've just wanted it off her back though, a former flatmate of mine started saving up so he can pay his student loan off in one go once he is finished almost the minute he started university (and there is a cap at I think 10000€ here, you won't have to pay back more than that and they usually only start asking you to make a payment plan 5 years or so after you graduate).
We all want our student loans off our back, but the way she she phrased it...As I said in another comment, it sounded like she was repeating stuff she's heard American actresses say.

I'm Canadian and I graduated with $28k in debt. It's not awful but if I could've played a bond girl and paid it off in 1 go, I would not have said no.

And the students loan company would not have bothered her. They don't expect you to pay if you aren't earning enough.

If she was unemployed, it's not like they would have been running her down for the money.
